A visit.

While reading about King Otto II we heard a knock on our side door, it was Abuelita coming for a visit. She is going to NC for Christmas and wanted to say hello. She made this beautiful sweater for Esther and gave her a yellow and green turtle neck to wear underneath. Maybe I can sneak in her luggage and welcome the Brendleys home!

Snow for a day.

Our fist snow fall happened last week. It did not amount to much but the snow fell in the biggest clumps. Of course my kids ran outside and started dancing the children's snow dance. Some without jackets! Isaiah took a ride on the slide and wanted me to take a picture of his butt! No problem Isaiah!

There's no place like home for the Holiday...

Well, here we are! All decorated for the holiday. Isn't our little tree cute! We are not going to be here for Christmas or New Years - we will be back and forth to PA, but we are entertaining a few families here and there. The kids are counting the days down till school is over and Christmas break starts (I am too). Have a blessed day everyone.

The city is so lovely during the holidays. It was very cold but we were in and out of stores all day. After checking out some bead shops and my favorite store "My Trimmings" we stopped for a coffee and something sweet. Now that was a delicious pretzel!! Next we headed to our final destination - Macy's. That store knows how to dress themselves up in ribbons and bows. We found out that mom could get an 11% discount because she is from out of town. I guess somethings good comes from living out of town! We headed to the Cellar to eat dinner - we love it there. The chef made us a fabulous dish of Carbonara!! Thanks for coming in Mom. Dad - thanks for babysitting!

Christmas in Manhattan

My parents came in on Sunday night and we met them in the city - don't kill me but I left my camera home and so did my father! We had a great night although it was FREEZING and crowded. The next day my mom and I went on a "Day out" together. We started at Rockefeller Center then walked down 5th Ave toward Bryant Park. More to come...

Buying our tree!

Here we are at Home Depot buying our little Christmas tree. We opted for a small one and it is perfect. As we waited and waited for the helper to cut the bottom he informed us that someone stole the saw!! That's life in the big city for ya!

TGIF

Some Friday fun! The kids have been on this kick of melting their kisses over a candle. Strange, I know but it's a melty, yummy good time. Here is I-Z with a bubble beard. We are off to buy a Christmas tree and decorate the house. See you soon.

Gingerbread Manger #2

The only draw back on this gingerbread project was there was not enough candy!!! You all know how much we love our candy!

Gingerbread manger scene.

For the last few years Nanny and Poppy have made Gingerbread houses or trains with the grand kids. This year they found a Nativity Gingerbread. It was fun!!

Some extra shots from Thanksgiving...

Here are some extra random shots from Thanksgiving. Jeanette and Petey are making her famous pumpkin pie! Breakfast, and the cousins playing their game boys first thing on the top bunk. Some mommy love and then the kitchen crew doing "the Dance" as Jeanette called it.
See ya soon!

The Cloisters

We had a great time at the Cloisters today. Thank goodness in traditional "Nanny" fashion we brought our lunch because the cafeteria was closed. It was cold and breezy and we had tired kids so we couldn't stay or walk around outside as much as I would have liked but that's ok. Now that I have been back I will be making more trips there with the kids - I forgot how beautiful it is uptown. More pictures later - I'm tired!!!
